   Catherine Chandler is a smart, honest homicide detective. Catherine’s mother was murdered by two gunmen when she was a teenager. They wanted to kill Catherine too, but someone or something ─ saved her. Time passed, and she is a strong police officer, which works with talented partner, Tess O’Malley. While investigating the murder, Catherine discovers that the doctor named Vincent Keller saved her many years ago. Vincent was in hiding for the past 10 years, guarding his secret: when he is angry, he turns into a terrifying beast, without the ability to cope with his superpower and heightened senses. Katherine agrees to defend him in return for any help he can provide for the disclosure of the murder of her mother. Thus begins a complex relationship between Catherine and Vincent, who is stronglyattached to each other, but understand that their relationship is extremely dangerous for both of them.

  Beauty and the Beast will be loosely based on the 1987 CBS series starring Ron Pearlman and Linda Hamilton. Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper will write and executive-produce alongside Paul J. Witt and C. Anthony Thomas, Ron Koslow and Bill Haber. ABC is also developing a Beauty and the Beast project, planned as a more traditional take about Belle being imprisoned by the Beast in his enchanted castle.

A modern day retelling of the Beauty and Beast fairytale, this update uses military medical experimentation to create "Beast" with the down side of there being no "Magic Cure" to resolve what's been done to him.

Beauty is tied to the beast via her mother, the scientist involved in the experiments done to these soldiers.

Vincent, the beast, hides his life from the corporation tied to the government responsible for the experiments, and fears that he, like most of his brethren, will be killed if they find him.

Katharine is sharp and became a detective after the murder of her mother in front of her, where she first meets Vincent when he saves her life from her mother's killers.
